As an online merchant, you should be aware of the things that are concerned with your business transactions, including the tools that you use and the store that you maintain. Here are some problems that you might encounter when using shopping cart solutions.
One of the common reasons why customers, no matter how interested they are, abandon the buying process, is when they face difficulties in the checkout procedures. A research result once showed that almost three fourths of the buying customers usually leave the checkout procedure even if they already have undergone the whole tedious task of choosing and comparing of products, once they find it very inconvenient during the checkout process. Thus, here are some points that you need to consider when you set up your shopping cart, particularly the checkout process.
Transparency
This involves both all the charges that the customers need to pay and all the information that they would need as they progress though the checkout and the possible problems that they might encounter. Make sure that costs of delivery and other hidden costs not included in the actual price are all laid out for the customers. Also, make customers aware whether the product that they intend to purchase is still available or not. Above all, give them a rough time estimate of how long it would actually take them to complete the whole purchasing transaction. To help them with some questions or problems that they might encounter along the way, place a window or allocate a side panel that has all the information they would need for a certain process they are trying to complete. This would serve as their immediate guide and to avoid making them feel frustrated and would eventually make them lose their interest.
Answering Sudden Changes
If products have certain variations, include it in the shopping cart. It would be very advisable if they could view how a certain product looks like using different variations such as sizes or colors. A link back page going back to the window where they could view the product is also very convenient. And, above all, make the changing of quantities and the likes readily available so that they do not have to go back from where they have started.
Mapping How The Customer Is Doing
Lastly, one of things that would help relieve frustration from customers is by making them know where they are already are. It is quite difficult to feel lost during the whole buying process and it is equally difficult not to know when customers could finally end all the clicking. Thus, it is a good idea to show a marker of where they already are in the process, like a step 1 of 5 or the likes would do.
One rule of the thumb is to ensure a perfected customer satisfaction. These points will effectively guide you to lead your business in achieving it.
