How a Banner can Mean Sales

The past weeks have been challenging while trying to get more harmony on a page image like a banner from a beginner graphic artist. There are several lessons that makes a banner an effective image that says it all for your site.

Consider the COLOR on your Banner, would you know what the colors mean or do you choose the hues just because they look good if you wore them?

In making and choosing effective Banners color usage is different from one point of the globe to another. Effective and specialized Banner or even image making comes when you consider your target audience culture. When your target is Ireland, the color Green does well since it is associated with luck. I have yet to see a Clover leaf, Leprechaun or even a St. Patrick’s celebration with another dominating color- Green si very much Irish.

Colors like White and Black mean death in the Orient and North America respectively while the colors put together Black suit and White tie may mean sophistication in the UK. Let’s say you have Bridal Wear which you would want to export to the Orient, keep in mind that some colors wish well while some may be a taboo to use on a special occasion like a wedding. Research is the key, the best and effective international Banner graphic arts explores other cultures and gets the colors spot on.Taking culture andtarget audience into onsideration, let’s move on with the colors that click best.

Blue, Yellow and Green Banners have been studied to have a better click through rate. I ran an experiment of putting just 1 image ad in an ad group of more than 20 ads in Blue- the result were clicks. There were no conversions though since the services that the Banner advertised wasn’t launched yet. Basic formula would be bright colors catch the eye.

Make a Banner according to its use. Bright and striking colored Banners can have greater advantage if put at the top, while Banners meant for putting at the bottom must blend well with the page itself. Without touching the company logo of a site, every service and product site should indulge in themed Banners which can be re-used. Its like having greeting cards for every special occassion meaning the same thing but keeping up with the mood. Promotional and seasonal Banners are the best tools to give FREE offers, it isn’t against the law to have several working or for occassion Banners to enhance your website or ads.

Product-color match is one Banner element for several product companies. For example a gardening or landscaping site would never use black for a banner background. Some might find it elegant but the clicks on that Banner are what matters. When choosing a Banner to keep in store consider the all around effect of combining a certain product with a color.

Banner choosing or even making is not rocket science, but there are just some color issues that one has to bear in mind.
