When shopping, most people would want to know what kind of products they are looking at. Usually, even if the product is unknown, if there is a reliable and relevant product information that customers could use in decision making, then that product can still be potentially purchased.
You spend a lot of time trying to make customers get to your site. And, when you are successful, what happens? Does their visiting already means that you are already going to make a sell? Of course not. You have another task to accomplish and that is to make customers buy from you. So, how will you do this? There are a lot of methods that you can try to convince customers to purchase your product. One way is to provide product information to customers.
Make information pages. These pages are very important because not only do they give customer a lot of information they need about a certain product, these pages can also be used to get high rankings in the web. By having a lot of reliable information, your site attracts a lot of spiders to crawl your site resulting to higher page rankings. And it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what high page rankings mean – priceless credibility in the world of ecommerce.
Use thumbnail images instead of life-size images. Life-size images tend to make loading slow especially on a page that already has a lot of content. By using thumbnails that are linked to larger photos, you make browsing and shopping much easier for customers who have slow internet connection. Anyway, if a buyer is really interested with the product, he or she can just click on the image to get a better view.
Optimize your images using GIFBot. Optimizing images mean carefully choosing the size of the image that you should use in your page. Then, make sure that you check how fast or slow the page loads everytime you use a certain image file type or size. In fact, you should carefully optimize the size of all the images on your Web pages.
Whatever method you use to show product information you should make sure that it does not take so much download time and page size as they would not be of benefit to your ecommerce business. This is because customers are not so thrilled with the idea of waiting for slow pages to load. They would rather go to a competing online store that value the time that they spend on going through products looking for things that they could purchase.
