Before you finally dip your whole body in the ocean of the affiliate marketing business, here is a last reminder of the do’s and don’ts in affiliate marketing. These are the things that you should always remember no matter what you try to do in your affiliate marketing career.

Do NOT

  1. Take your competitors for granted. There is a reason why they are called competition – they give you an idea how good or bad your business is doing.
  2. Disregard the changing of time. Always be ahead steps from your competition.
  3. Be left out on things. Update yourself of the latest innovation – especially those that can be useful.
  4. Be careless in choosing an affiliate program for you. You might end up in some scam.
  5. Be dependent on old school advertisement (banners, links, etc.). Try experimenting on ingenious ways to advertise.
  6. Spam. It is the easiest way to get yourself blacklisted and earn a bad reputation. And those two are the last things you want to happen to your affiliate marketing career.

Make sure you… (Do’s)

  1. Are aware of what the others are offering and make sure you have something more enticing in your sleeves to offer.
  2. Have a website that is of use to people who would happen to visit it. This ensures a credibility that would make one time visitors visit again and again.
  3. Allow your customers and visitors become more in touch with your website. Add a touch of personal applications that visitors and customers could use. This will encourage them more to go back to your site.
  4. Have an advertising model that compliments the strategy that you use and the kind of product you are affiliating on.
  5. Keep all of your records well-tracked. That is you should get an affiliate program that has an almost impeccable reputation when it comes to their tracking.
  6. Establish your site first before you start with any affiliate programs. Some big paying affiliate programs would want to scrutinize whoever they want to become their affiliates. An established and high ranked website will help you paint an image of trust and credibility.
  7. Also do a promotion of the affiliate program that you are using. It will also in turn increase the people who could view what you are trying to do some affiliating on.
  8. Incorporate search engine optimization techniques. The higher your rank is in search engines, the higher the chances you have in getting clicks for your affiliate business.
