Although a lot of people are very particular with the design that you use in your website for your online business, you have to bear in mind that you should be able to compliment the design that you use with the purpose of your internet marketing. And that is to generate a lot of exposure. One way of getting a lot of exposure for your online marketing is through the use of search engine optimization.
There are things that you have to consider when using designs for your online store. One is that the design that you choose greatly affect the performance of your online business in terms of fairing well with the search engines. It goes without saying that there are some design rules that you have to bear in mind.
Movies may be nice to watch but they do not serve much for your website especially flash movies. Websites that hide behind animation using Flash gets little chance of being indexed. Search engines usually go for texts and cannot read Flash, thus when ranking sites, websites that use flash animation do not fair so well with text-based, much simpler sites.
Make use of every part of your site to place the keywords that you use. Instead of using images as part of your menu list, just use plain text. Graphics are not read by search engines. Thus, by using texts for your navigation, you get more space to place your keywords and you increase the likelihood of your site being indexed by search engine, and in turn, increase your site’s chances of getting a high page rank.
Lastly, you can include more keywords in the non-text files of your websites. This can be done by renaming name these non-text files into keyword rich file names. Also, the tag and the title of these files should also be keyword-centered. By doing so, these non-text files, which are usually not indexed, can now be indexed by search engines.
Most of these design rules above revolve around the idea of getting more places in your site to place your keywords which search engines could read. The idea is to include as many keywords as possible, in a scrupulous way, for search engines to easily index your site.
