Writing online is not as similar to traditional writing. Traditional writing has only one general purpose – and that is to be read. No matter for whatever agenda the writer has in writing an article, you can always generalize the purpose of all traditional writing. Online writing also has the same purpose. However, it not only limited to that.

Online writing should be credible, of high quality and at the same time, able to generate high traffic to a website. One of the lifelines of SEO is article writing that is capable of informing and getting traffic to a website. How does article writing help in improving search engine optimization? The online community is such a wide community. For example, a website offering real estate services is just one of the MILLIONS of other websites on real estate. All of these sites make use of the same set of the top keywords used to search on the topic. In other words, competition is very stiff and the likelihood of your site getting noticed slims down as the number of competition goes up.

This is where articles come in. Articles are used to expand your website’s visibility. It helps your website to scatter its link all over the next with the hopes that people would click on the backlinks that lead back to the website.

Articles are very useful because there are a lot places where you can put articles. You can make a blog and post your articles there. Or, you can post it in pages like Squidoo, Hubpages and Wetpaint. Another option would be to submit your articles to article submission directories. Make sure that wherever you place your articles, you always provide a backlink that would lead back to your main site. Also, the content of your articles should be of good quality, something that really delivers according to what is promised in the title. Also, make sure that the ideas that you present are useful, relevant and new, so that your articles will earn a reputation of credibility and authority on the matters that you write about.
