It has become a craze. In this ironic world where population and connectivity heighten isolation, social networking has found the answer to yet again make people each other’s connection. Out from this seemingly self-gratifying method came a new and very effective means of doing Internet marketing.

Social marketing has been found out to increase traffic towards website. By building connections and posting announcements to any social media, you can build massive traffic to your website without spending much. Promotion has become way, way much cheaper but at the same time, it has also become very, very productive.

In order for you to have a better understanding of how social media works, here is some information that you could use to give you a much better idea.

Links, especially permanent and natural, can establish a certain website’s authority. If you get to place your links in blogs and websites that also have good reputation and are pretty relevant to your own site, search engines would be able to notice your site and your site would be able to get a substantial place in the page rank. Optimization can help your keywords rank well and would eventually give your site visitors coming from the search engines. Since you are already receiving search engine visitors, there is no other way but up to the page ranking. Independently, a fresh site would find it hard to rise up in the page ranking. However, with the help of established blogs and sites, helping a new site earn its own reputation, it would be much easier to get traffic.

There is also what we call as primary traffic and secondary traffic. You may say that posting your links in social news websites does not really help much because visitors would just click on your click, go to your site and then just get out of your site right away. However, with the millions of people who could view your site, there are those who would find your content interesting and very useful to whatever it is they are doing. In this case, you would notice that after experiencing a slow start, you would then realize that the number of your subscribers have drastically gone up. Just always make sure to have fresh, interesting, informative and very relevant content. That would be the use of primary traffic. Equally, secondary traffic is as important. By posting your links in relevant sites, people who would go to your link would be most likely interested to what you are going to say. Thus, in this case, there is a higher percentage of people who belong to your target audience to go to your site compared to posting random primary links.
