For people who have been around for quite some time in optimizing web sites, they would know how important the roles of articles are in SEO. However, amidst this idea, there are still some who find it difficult to properly use online writing to increase traffic to their websites. The following are just some of the basic things that you can use to improve your skills in online writing and, in turn, get more traffic to your website.
It starts with the title. Some may take for granted the things that the title could do with the whole article itself. That is why they just carelessly pick titles for their articles.
However, there is a dire need to be strategic in pulling words to comprise the whole article title. You need to choose the top words that people use to search information on the topic that you are writing about. Then, research on keywords that top keyword search tools. You need to do these both because titles are used to index articles and catch the attention of readers. The more related and seemingly informative an article by the looks of its title, the more people would open that article.
After the title comes the content, the body of the article. It is also a good idea to include keywords all throughout the content. Choose specific terms over more general terms since they aren’t usually searched by people who have specific information to look for. So, for example, instead of just saying “Asian countries”, you can list down names of some prominent Asian countries. Another example would be when you talk about cellphones. Instead of just being general and use “cell phones” or cell phone brands againa nad again, naming a particular model would yield more exposure.
However, you should also not exaggerate the use of keywords because this would lead to more harm than good. Search engines have this mechanism that calculates the proportion of keywords to the number of words in the whole article. Too many keywords would lead to the branding of your article as SPAM, and if such event happens, your website would move down in the ranking or might even just conveniently disappear. Thus, it is important that you carefully choose the keywords that you use. Your choice of keywords to use should be made according to (a) popularity of the keyword and (b) relevance of the keywords to the article topic.
