Aside from creating landing pages, title strategies and search word repetition, font use, choice of domain names and the URL site could also contribute to a successful optimization for search engines.
Most people would think that font format is only applicable in web designing. However, it could also be an important factor in becoming successful in search engine optimization. This technique is very helpful if you have specified to use a certain kind of font. HTML does not allow font embedding and with CSS, a certain font could only be viewed accordingly if that font is available in the visitor’s computer. What can be done would be to make use of sIFR or image replacement. The latter is difficult since it would require Flash in order to be displayed and it would make your website slow. The former, on the other hand, limits your progress because you would have to make an image for each text that you want to use.
Choosing your domain name should also be done with outmost care because it would also affect your website’s performance in search engine rankings. There are two issues that you would have to answer in choosing a domain name. First would be to know what words you are going to use to name your site, and second would be how you would format your site. For the first issue, you need to make sure that the name that you choose is also a top search word for your website. It should also be able to reflect what kind of site you have. Let us say for example you want to reinvent your site into something else. If ever you are going to change the domain name, it would man that you have to start out all over again because the reputation of your initial domain will not be carried by your new domain name. The second issue covers how you would format your domain name. Will you be using a “www” or not? Will your sub-domains be named as blog.mainsite.com or will you make it as a sub-directory and go for mainsite.com/blog. If you choose the former, search engines would treat your subdomain as a totally different site and would get a different page rank from the main site.
URL is also used in determining page ranking. Thus, it would also be a good idea if you make use of human readable URL and not the default URL. Human readable URL can help your site in two way: (1) the search words in URL could contribute in increasing your visibility in page ranks, and (2) it becomes much easier to remember.
