Magento has made it easy for customers to do their payments.

No matter how you try to do the marketing and no matter how nice you set up your products, if customers find it difficult to follow the payment procedures, most probably they would, at the last minute abandon their carts. And this is what Magento knows. That is why it has included in its system more and more ways to make payment a breeze and more accessible to everybody.

It has incorporated different major payment gateways and also some alternative paying methods. Such alternative paying methods include Google, Amazon and PayPal. Aside from these, customers also have the option to pay through money order or check order. Or, using Magento Connect, they could also opt for purchase order or payment extensions.

Aside from these, there are more payment options available.

Exclusive to Enterprise, customers can choose to use customer store credits or gift certificates or gift cards, either virtual or physical is okay.

As for Pay Pal, Magento has integrated these various Paypal gateways that customers can choose from: PayPal PayFlo Pro, Website Payments Pro (Direct or Express), Website Payment Standard and Website Payments Pro UK (also Direct or Standard).

It also has Authorize.net and Google Checkout (Level 2) integrated.

Amazon Payments are also integrated, Checkout by Amazon and Amazon Simple Pay
It can be configured to exclusively authorize only or exclusively charge only or, both authorize and charge the creation of invoices

It also allows offline payment through saved credit card method

As for payment extensions, Magento connect has the following payment gateways: Fontis Australia, Fontis Payment, Cybersource,, Protx, Tweakmag Payment, SPPLUS, WorldPay, Bank Prepayment, Cash On Delivery, Ogone Payment, among others.

Each customer has his or her own comfort in terms of payment method, depending on his or her location, the availability of funds and other issues that could affect the customers choice in paying. And, with the limitless possibilities of payment method that Magento offers, there can be no reason why a customer would lose interest in continuing to buy your product and just leave their shopping cart in the middle of the payment process.

Even for m-commerce sites the Landing Page is an important element of getting leads and sales from browse shoppers. Just like online lead getting pages, the mobile version of a landing page is just a smaller handheld version-pretty much the same in the online site. All you would need to have an optimized landing page that will work for handy browsing requires the basics in landing pages, short and straight copy, eye-catching design and several call-to-action buttons and a short & sweet sign-up form. The same can be said for Magento shopping cart landing page mechanics.

With your product landing page prepared, go to your shopping cart CMS > Manage Pages once on this page, choose the Add New Page button. You will be directed to a page that shows you 3 tabs:

  • General Information
  • Custom Design
  • Meta Data.

To create and edit landing pages go to CMS -> Manage Pages. To create a new page, select the Add New Page button.

You will see 3 tabs for the new page

General Information tab. In this tab you type in the Page Title for this page which doubles as the Meta Page title for your landing page. After this you must type the SEF (Search Engine Friendly) URL ID for your page.

Starting with General Information enter the Page Title for this page. The Page Title is used for the Meta Page title for the new landing page.

Let’s say your landing page version is for Spring so you’ve got a floral feel to the landing page, to get your m-commerce landing page set the SEF URL ID as:

http://www.yourdomian.com/Spring _Floral

Another thing great with a Magento shopping cart is the ability to set up the same landing page for the multiple stores you are allowed to manage. Several stores can have the same landing page without a hitch. Default settings for the new page are disabled so to have your new landing page appear you have to switch the status to ‘enable’.

The last field under the General Information tab is the Content Field. Enter an HTML which will have the landing page rendered at the front-end.

Custom Design Tab. In this tab a merchant can create an original design for this page. There is a drop-down menu for the existing theme with the optional time stamp for the period you expect this page to run or be displayed. The Layout drop-down menu on this tab is where you choose the elements to be included on the landing page. Defaults are blank unless you type anything on the field.

This tab also lets you maintain your shopping site’s header and footers, just enter their coded form into the content field.

Lastly the Meta Information tab, is where you enter the Meta Data such as your keywords and descriptions of the landing page. Once done click on the Save page button to have your landing page up.

Do you see something wrong with the live landing page? Edit and correct mistakes by going to the CMS > Manage Pages again. This time click on the button that allows you to select the page you would want to edit- there’s a Grid list that shows each page ID. The process of corrections is the same as enabling a new landing page. Be careful if you choose the Reset button it will automatically takes you back to the last saved landing page. Keep in mind that it would be better to use another copy of the landing page just in case you’d have to go through the uploading once more because of errors you made.

I could not help celebrate the fact that among all the shopping carts available the Magento is one of the easiest to update-even if one is clueless in codes.

A good shoping cart is one that gets your shop anywhere in the world in any medium needed.
