Traffic is like the holy grail in the war of page ranks. That is why it is understandable to have a lot of people who are very much focused on directing traffic to their respective sites. There are but a lot of methods that you can use to increase traffic to. All of them have been tested and proved to have their own fall back.

First on the list is the buying of traffic. You make use of automated programs that would do their tricks in getting a lot of traffic. It may be able to increase hits, but it would not be able to do the same to your bottom line. What about creating blogs that would do the directing of traffic to your site? The problem lies on the competition, not just with blogs that have the same content as yours have but also with all the other more interesting blogs that populate the Internet. Another popular method is to make a Real Simple Syndication (RSS) for your website. This RSS then would be submitted to other RSS feeds. This will follow the same fate as the first and the second one – increase your hits but would require quality content to pull visitors to become potential customers of your website.

There is a much brighter option with the use of traffic exchanges. What happens in traffic exchanges is you sign up in a program. Then, you would be able to get credits just by surfing sites. These credits only become used when others who are also exchange members get to surf your own site. When used alone, it is not so effective in generating traffic, the same with the first three mentioned. However, when used in combination with any of the three above, it becomes a very power traffic generating method.

Traffic exchange can provide you with a lot of benefits. It can help you bring your rating in Alexa up. Another is it also helps you become more aware of branding. Branding can help you become known amidst the multitudes of sites.

However, before you go and try traffic exchanges, you need to know some things before hand. Be careful with what traffic exchange program you would use. Most likely they would just scam money from you and then give you minimal traffic. Another important thing to watch out for would be traffic exchange programs that do not have high security system to catch cheats on the loose.
